To the students at Momokuri Academy, Maron Kusakabe seems like an average teenager who loves gymnastics and just has a little problem getting up in the morning. But, at the moment that they turn their backs, she transforms into Kaitou Jeanne (she is the reincarnation of Jeanne D'Arc (Joan of Arc)) and seals away demons that lurk in beautiful or important objects by 'checkmating' them. Her best friend, Miyako Todaiji is the daughter of the detective on the case of Jeanne, so she assists in the attempt of Jeanne's capture, not knowing that the thief is her best friend. Along with trying to deal with her best friend's obsession in arresting Jeanne, Maron has to deal with her new neighbor, Chiaki Nagoya who Maron discovers to be quite a pervert at times, although he really does have a caring heart. She also faces the appearence of Kaitou Sinbad, who is trying to beat Jeanne to seal demons.
