Chiaki is the hero of the story, and practically every girl in school has eyes for him. To their distress, the only one that Chiaki likes is Maron, who finds him annoying and mean. Although sometimes Chiaki flirts with other girls, he loves Maron with all of his heart, and he is willing to protect her even if it costs him his life. He prowls through the night as Kaitou Sinbad, and intentionally tries to get close to Jeanne to make her stop being a Kaitou. Maron/Jeanne is convinced that this is only true because she has been told by Fin that he works for the devil, and he just wants to checkmate all of the demons to make the Devil stronger. Of course, this is not true, and Chiaki only wants to protect Maron, who he knows to be Jeanne. (Maron does not know of his identity) Chiaki is not very close to his father- who runs the Nagoya hospital- because of his neglectance to see his wife (Chiaki's mother) before the time of her death.
